Dear Black People,
I love you!
You are WELCOME here!
We will THRIVE together!
We will build GENERATIONAL WEALTH together!
Better Days Are Coming!
This weekend I met my nephew’s girlfriend, and she is a beautiful black queen who happens to be a competitive swimmer. She told us during her swim meets, people would call her the n-word and other derogatory names.
She said it didn’t bother her, and I still saw the tears in her eyes and heard her voice crack.
Her story, like so many of us, hurts me to my core. I wanted to take away her pain and make our world more just and equal. I may not have that power, but I can affirm her and let her know I see her and feel her pain.
Affirming her made me want to affirm us all.
We are BEAUTIFUL.
We are GIFTED.
We are LOVING.
We are DOPE.
We are SMART.
We are SPIRITUAL.
We are HEALED.
We are COMFORTED.
We are HOPEFUL.
We are TALENTED.
We are WEALTHY.
We are WEAK.
We are STRONG.
We ARE…
If you are black and reading this, it’s okay to be in pain, and it’s okay not to be okay. It’s okay to be frustrated, overwhelmed, disappointed, and angry.
We don’t need to be superheroes daily; sometimes, we need to lay in our humanity knowing that it’s OKAY not to be OKAY.
Sometimes we work so hard to be strong we forget that we have a right to be weak.
I am sending love, light, healing, joy, positivity, comfort, and prayers every Black person’s way.
I see you, and I love you.
